Visual Artist — Mixed Media on Canvas
The Game — an ongoing collection examining
the inherited architectures of control.
How do you win a game you didn’t know you were playing?
How do you survive a role built around you before you could consent to it?
What does it cost — to yourself, and to everything constructed around you — when you finally choose your own path?
Working in layered acrylic, watercolor, oil, collage, found objects, and text on canvas, this practice excavates the gap between the life that was designed for someone and the life they actually live.
Luxury signifiers sit alongside tarot imagery, institutional symbols, and fragments of buried text. The surface is deliberately layered — early paint bleeding through later decisions, records that resist erasure, beauty deployed as both weapon and witness.
Recurring motifs of eyes, hearts, butterflies, cages, and roses form a visual language for surveillance, performance, transformation, and the aestheticization of captivity.
The Game is a complete examination of inherited systems, manufactured identity, and the specific cost of survival when survival was never supposed to be an option.
The eye that sees. The ones who watch. What gets held in the light.
The bribe. The cage made beautiful. The frame built before you arrived.
What was constructed before you were born. What you were made to carry.
Who they made you. Who you performed. Who you weren’t allowed to be.
What it took. What it cost. What the fire left behind.
What survives when everything they built around you is gone.
Jaime Panico is a Chicago-born mixed media artist currently based in Scottsdale, AZ. Her work examines themes of transformation, authenticity versus performance, and the invisible systems of control that shape identity across generations.
Working primarily in layered acrylic, watercolor, oil, collage, and found materials on canvas, Panico builds paintings that function as both personal excavation and cultural critique.
Her background in luxury, economics, and political geography informs work that reads the language of objects, brands, and institutional structures as precisely as it reads paint.
Panico is autistic, possesses eidetic memory, and describes her practice as inseparable from her cognitive life — pattern recognition, accumulated evidence, and the refusal to look away from what the record shows.
